Never stored goods before, well never fear. At UCI Self Service we have all the tips and guidance you could possibly need. Take a look at our recommendations below. If you have any questions we've not answered here feel free to call us, or email us and we will be happy to help.
- We recommend that you use good quality and heavy duty storage boxes.
- Try to fill boxes to capacity, as partially full or bulging boxes may tip or collapse.
- To maximise space stack similar sized boxes together.
- Heavy items should be packed into small boxes so that they are easy to lift and will not drop when carrying.
- Make up an inventory of your stored items and keep it in a safe place at home this will help you locate your goods.
- Protect your fragile goods in bubble wrap to make sure they do not smash in transit or when stored.
- Label or number boxes for easy reference when you need to locate your goods.
- Garden equipment should be cleaned before storing to keep units tidy.
- Place heavy or bulky items in the container first to provide a good stacking base.
- Plan your storage space - put those items that you need to get to most often near the front, close to the door.
- Always place a protective cover over your soft furnishings.
- Stack chairs seat to seat with cloth or paper to separate them in case of any damage to your goods.
- Leave refrigerator or freezer doors open for ventilation to keep a little air circulations and free from fungus.
- Avoid stacking or leaning furniture against outside walls to aid ventilation.
- Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in boxes, marked fragile and stacked on their end.
